What is direct primary care?

Frequently asked questions

Do you take insurance?

We have purposely decided NOT to accept insurance. Why? By not accepting insurance we cut our extensive overhead cost and frustrations. Cutting the middleman out allows us to focus on you and your needs and not have to conform with insurance rules and regulations. It brings the relationship between the patient and clinician back to where it should be, on a personal level.

What if I want to Cancel my membership?

Clearly this is likely only a hypothetical question, we are sure that our members will truly enjoy the benefits and personal level of care they will receive! However, we understand that life happens and circumstances may develop that require you to have to cancel your membership. All that is needed is a 30 day written notice and your membership will terminate on the first day of the next month. For annual memberships, a prorated portion of the membership will be refunded to you.

Should I cancel my health insurance when I join?

NO! We are not a health insurance plan. However, you may want to switch to a high deductible health plan. Combining Your Care DPC with a high deductible plan could easily save you more money in the long run. Keep the high deductible plan for those catastrophic events outside of your control. Use your membership here to take advantage of low cost labs, imaging, and select medications. Along with no copay visits and after hours access to your provider. We will work with you in hopes of staying healthy and not having to worry about getting anywhere near that high deductible!

Can I use my HSA account to pay for my membership?

HSA funds can be used for medical visits but because Insurance and government rules are forever changing we recommend you first consult with you benefits manager or accountant for a clear and up to date answer to this question. We do not want to give you inaccurate information.

I'm not sure I can afford this added expense!

Yes this is an added expense, but no more than the average cup of coffee at Starbucks everyday, in fact a bit cheaper! Additionally, personalized medicine models have shown to reduce the number of emergency room visits and hospitalizations!

How do I sign up for membership with Your Care DPC?

Email or call us and we will gladly talk to you about how to become a member.

Will you draw my labs there? What about xrays or other imaging?

Great questions, glad you asked! We draw your blood right here at the clinic, and will contact you as soon as we have results back. We are working with Iowa Radiology for our imaging services. The order will be sent to them and if you have insurance they can run testing through your insurance. However, in many cases the discount for cash pay is less than what you would pay for out of pocket. Prior to getting imaging we will discuss the fee schedule from Iowa Radiology so you will know how much to expect for these imaging services.
